Ms. Kelly's Beginning, Intermediate and Transitional ELL classes visited the Minnesota Zoo yesterday! At the zoo, we saw many of the animals they had been studying (like mammals and fish), and even some animals that were new (like reptiles and birds!).
Students enjoyed learning about animals that live in Minnesota, but also liked seeing animals they had seen when they lived in Africa. Among the classes' favorite animals were the lions, elephants and giraffes. The classes also enjoyed seeing a live dolphin show and bird-of-prey demonstration.
During our field trip, students took notes on the animals they saw and new words they learned. In the next week we will use what we learned to write creative stories about our favorite animal. Check back on this blog next week to see some samples of students' stories!
Students: did you know that you can visit the zoo FOR FREE anytime you want? Check out a museum pass from the Public Library and take your whole family to the zoo! Click here for more information about how to get free passes to the Minnesota Zoo (and other great Twin Cities museums!)
